Procrastination

So, something you all should know about me.

I procrastinate. Like, a lot. It's bloody awful. Today's procrastination has been watching the last half of the new season of Orange is the New Black (which was Ah-mazing, btw) instead of writing two essays for University.

Essays that are due.

Today.

I swear, it's like my brain can't even comprehend that there are likely consequences for my actions (or, in this case, lack of action). The unfortunate thing is, up until this point, I've had really chill Professors who don't seem to give a crap if my work is a couple of days late - since returning to University last January, the lowest mark I've got is a B+. I handed in an essay three days late earlier this semester and got 96% - that's just so freaking stupid, I was actually kind of annoyed!!

I can't believe I'm saying this but I kind of want my professors to be arseholes so that I actually have deadlines I need to meet.

Well. Maybe not quite that bad. But still - this lack of boundaries is not helping my natural shitty instinct to leave things to the last minute.

I've been told that it's an anxiety / perfectionist thing, but honestly I think it's more a "I work better under pressure" thing. Except I currently feel no pressure, so I'm not working at all.

Gah, I seriously need a better strategy than just "I'll get it done when I get it done" - I think I went through my anxiety and depression and came out the other end too apathetic about.. well, everything. I don't stress about things the way I used to, which, yay - but I don't work to deadlines like I used to, either. And I'm trying to get scholarships for my post grad work, so I kind of need to sort myself out so that I can actually afford to do post grad study. I'm the worst kind of Slytherin - all ambition, no dedication. Something for me to work on, perhaps.

But anyway - how have you all spent your day? Are you terrible procrastinators as well? Do you have any anti-procrastination tips? Shall we unite and form a club?

Welcome!

Hi all, welcome to my Dreamwidth page! For those who don't know me, my name is Chelsea, I'm 24, I'm asexual and I live in New Zealand. I'm currently studying towards my BA in English Literature and Cultural Studies (with a focus in Internet Culture and Fan Studies).

My blog (is it even still called a blog?) will occasionally have some non-fandom related rambles, but it will predominantly be a fandom blog and will include posts for any fanfiction I write, some fanart that I make, conversations about things (headcanons, theories, characters, etc) and any fic recs for when I come across something particularly brilliant. I used to do some icon making and fanvidding many years back, so perhaps I'll get back into those, too.

You can also find me on AO3, LiveJournal (though I rarely update this), Tumblr, FF.net (also rarely updated) and Wattpad - so basically, all the usual suspects! I also used to go by daisychains123 years ago, so if you'd like to read my frankly embarrassing fic from when I was teenager, go ahead - just try not to judge me too much. ^__^

I'm fairly easy on the friending policy - I'm actually here because I kind of accidentally migrated to Tumblr from LiveJournal back in 2011 and I've been missing the community feel that I had on LiveJournal. I joined LJ again a while back but it seems that most people have moved from there to dreamwidth, so I thought I'd give it a go here. So on that note, please feel free to add me, and to comment here and introduce yourself - I'd love to make some friends and I'm really looking forward to getting involved in the communities here. :D
